A1 offers SIP accounts in Austria. Even if you are not a customer of A1, you can register an account at http://A1.net/a1overip (requires SMS confirmation at an Austria mobile phone). You may choose a free account. If you are already a customer with A1, with a classic account you can make net-out calls with your A1 number (in this case enter the voucher code 80000012 for a 6 months test period).

Next, download and install kvats. kvats.net is pre-configured with settings for A1.net. So you do not need to enter the parameters below, just enter username (with or without "@a1.net" ) and password.

If you want to configure access with A1 as a generic SIP account, here are the parameters:

User: A1.net username without "@a1.net"
Passwort: password of your A1.net user
Domain: a1.net
Server: a1.net
Outbound-Proxy: sip.a1.net
SIP Port: 5060

Is ist still possible to try the A1 VoIP service? I just registered (I own an Austrian mobile), but I always get "internal errors" on the web page... So there is no way to enter the voucher code - it is for entering on the web site, isn't it?

For a free A1overIP account, please register with http://www.a1innovations.at/
There you will get the new voucher 80000012, which is valid until 31 DEC 2008.

Now you do not need a voucher anymore.

If you have a mobile phone in Austria, you can simply register at A1.net and will get 50 free SMS.

A1 recently switched to server-side-presence which
currently nearly completely broke the presence feature in kvats. Presence changes of your contacts are not shown reliable anymore.
