g++-3.4 is neither available in intrepid any more, nor in lenny.

please update the package to build on an up to date system.

There is an ongoing discussion to bring back g++-3.4 (into Debian/lenny):

[1] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=485878

Nevertheless it is a good idea to update the build system. You are welcome to submit patches to make kvats build with g++-4.3.
