kvats 2.2

The kvats Voice-Over-IP Multimessenger is now available for testing.

Step 1: Download and install the software

• Windows

  • Click here to download kvats 2.2v1.0 RC4a (.exe installer, 15 MB, Date: 2. February 2009).

• GNU/Linux

  • Binary package for all distributions will be made available with the final release.
  • You can build your own kvats for Ubuntu / Debian following the instructions in the forum .
    Or use the qutecom Ubuntu build provided by Ludovico, which is nearly similar to kvats.

• Mac OS X

  • DMG package of kvats will be made available with the final release.
  • Meanwhile, you can download and test the qutecom Mac build , which is nearly similar to kvats.

Discliamer: This is not yet the final release.  Here is the list of known bugs. Release Candidate 3 has a number of stability improvements. We are continuosly improving the software, see our changelog and what we are currently working on. We are glad about any feedback at our forum or at the qutecom mailing list .

Step 2: Register for a VoIP SIP account

Get a SIP account with 50 free SMS with A1 here (only available in Austria). Or have a look at our forum , how to get a SIP account from other VoIP providers. Enter your credentials in the login window of the kvats software client.

Certainly, you can use kvats also to manage your MSN, Jabber or Yahoo accounts and contacts.

Step 3: Add your contacts

Put your contatcs in your address book and try a first call. If your VoIP provider offers outbound calls, you may simply call any phone number. Or chat with your friends at MSN or ICQ.
